Report: White House tries to remove some Nord Stream 2 sanctions
WASHINGTON, Nov 25 (PRIME) -- The U.S. presidential administration is trying to remove part of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project from the annual defense budget with the help of Democrat members of the Congress, magazine Foreign Policy reported late on Wednesday.
According to the report, State Secretary Antony Blinken personally called some congressmen asking them to cancel the amendments to the defense budget envisaging sanctions against the companies participating in the project.
The administration is trying to prevent sanctions against German companies participating in the project, which made the Republicans in the Congress angry, according to the report.
